Eligibility Criteria:

Railway Recruitment 2018 Notification gives elaborate eligibility criteria for both the posts of Loco Pilot and Technicians.

Age Limit

Candidate needs to be at least of an age of 18 years and at most of any 28 years. The upper age limit for different categories is specified differently. The details of the upper age limit of other categories are given below:

  • 33 years for SC/ST categories.
  • 31 years for OBC category
  • 38 years for Person with disabilities of General category.
  • 43 years for Person with disabilities of SC and ST categories.
  • 41 years for person with disabilities of OBC category.

 

Academic Qualification:

As per the academic qualification the eligibility for the posts of loco pilot and technician are as follows:

Assistant Loco Pilot:

Candidates aspiring to be ALP should have the following academic qualifications:

  • 12th class with the Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering, Mechanical engineering, Automobile engineering or a combination of various engineering streams.
  • Diploma in relevant trade or ITI in relevant trade.

Technicians:

Candidates aspiring to be Technicians should have the following academic qualifications:

  • 12th class with ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade.

Other details about the eligibility criteria are as following:

  • The candidate should be citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal, A subject of Bhutan, A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of settling permanently in India or a person of Indian origin who migrated to India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam and have the intention of settling permanently in India.

 

Application Fees:

The application fees for candidates from different candidates are as follows:

  • 500 application fees for UR and OBC categories
  • 250 application fees for Scheduled castes, Scheduled tribes, Female candidates, Transgender, Minorities, PWDs, Economically backward classes.

 

Railway Recruitment 2018 Admit Card

As per the Railway Recruitment 2018 Notification candidates after registering for the Railway recruitment 2018 Exam will be issued before the first level of the Computer based test. Two separate admit cards are issued for the first Computer based test and second Computer based test.

Candidates would need a registration number or roll number and date of birth or password to login to the official website of Railway Recruitment board.

26,502 posts are being offered in the RRB Recruitment 2018. Out of these 17,673 posts are for the Loco Pilot category and 8,829 posts are for technicians.

The pay scale for these jobs would be according to the Level 02 of the 7th CPC Pay matrix which is an initial salary of Rs. 19,900 with additional allowances which are admissible.

(RRB) Railway Recruitment Board 2018 Exam Pattern:

 

Assessment Pattern of RRB:

The RRB Recruitment 2018 assessment includes two computer based tests which is then followed by document verification.

The exam pattern for the first computer based test is as follows:

  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Basic Science and Engineering
  • General Awareness on current affairs

All these subjects together will be tested on in 75 questions. The duration of the exam is one hour.

These questions will be in multiple choice questions format. Negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer is applicable in the test.

The exam can be given in English and Hindi languages.

Candidates for different categories need at least the following percentage to qualify:

  • UR – 40%
  • OBC – 30%
  • SC – 30%
  • ST – 25%

15 times the posts allotted for the different categories for ALP and technician posts will be shortlisted for the next round of the computer based test.

The second round of the computer based test has two parts namely Part A and Part B.

The exam pattern for the Part A of the second computer based test is as follows:

  • Mathematics
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • Basic Science and Engineering
  • General Awareness on current affairs

All these subjects together will be tested on in 100 questions. The duration of the exam is one and half hour.

These questions will be in multiple choice questions format. Negative marking of 1/3rd for every wrong answer is applicable in the test.

The exam can be given in English and Hindi languages.

Candidates for different categories need at least the following percentage to qualify:

  • UR – 40%
  • OBC – 30%
  • SC – 30%
  • ST – 25%

 

The Part B of the second round of the computer based test will contain 75 questions about relevant trade. The duration of this exam would be one hour. Candidates need at least 35% marks to qualify in this exam.
